An engineer’s notebook on how trading tools actually work.
Santana Max is an independent education site about NinjaTrader 8, NinjaScript and the mechanics of index futures. It exists to explain, not to sell.

Most of what is written about trading tools is written to sell them. The result is a lot of confident claims and very few exact definitions. We go the other way: every guide here starts from the formula, the order logic or the exchange’s own contract terms, and works outward from there in plain English.
The guides come out of hands-on work with NinjaTrader 8 in backtest and simulation, where we write rules down before testing them and keep the tests that fail. That habit is why the guides spend as much time on where an idea breaks as on how it works.
What we publish
- How indicators such as VWAP, MACD and ATR are calculated, with the formula.
- How orders, stops, brackets and automated strategies behave on the platform.
- Contract terms for index futures, taken from the exchange and linked to it.
- Method: how to write a rule, test it honestly and read a report with suspicion.
What we never publish
- Trade signals, trade calls or advice about anyone’s account.
- Profit, return or performance figures of any kind, real or hypothetical, and no equity curves.
- Testimonials about trading results.
- Claims that any tool, rule or system works, wins or has an edge.
We do not manage money, copy trades or connect to anyone’s account, and nothing on this site is for sale.
How a guide is checked
Before a guide goes up we check each formula against the platform’s own documentation, each contract term against CME Group’s published specifications, and each rule reference against the regulator’s text. Those sources are linked on every guide so you can check us. If you find an error, it gets fixed and the page is updated.
